In "Zen Blues Harmonica" I documented how I learned to play blues harmonica in just one night with a little help from tequila. Ever since then, I have looked for ways to show others what I discovered so that they too can enjoy jamming with a blues harp (tequila optional).
For me, the fun of blues harp is playing spontaneously. Improvising. Getting the creative right brain working. Letting the analytical left brain snooze. I've played other instruments, such as piano, where my left brain got in the way of my play. In short, I think so much I can't improvise.
With blues harp I fount "it". "It" is hard to describe. Like Zen, it just is. You will know when you have found it.
The great Zen masters taught through conversation. Often leaving puzzles, known as Koans, so contemplate. Then it came to me. Use the internet to create an online "conversation". Using the web, an online class can lead anyone to the place I was when I discovered how to play the harmonica.
The total class time is three to five hours. It has been tested on dial up connections, and high quality MP3s will be offered for download. All lessons will be for a harmonica in the key of A. Harmonicas in the key of A are easier to bend and more expressive than harmonicas in the key of C.
Who I am:
After discovering the Zen of Blues Harmonica, I sat in with some of the hottest bands in Michigan. I've sat in with Orchid Pool, Smokin' OP, The Jesse Couch Band, Milkbone, and many solo and two piece acts that I've met when I was out and about. I've been in several local bands, including Bald Kitty, Led Foot, and 2nd Story. The peak of my humble career came when I joined forces with Flipt Out, the Flint areas hottest rock and blues band, as an opening act for The Yardbirds and The Animals at Lapeer Days in 1997.
I can teach you the Zen of Blues Harp for only $19.95. I can let you teach yourself how to improvise. Satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back, no questions asked.
